Diet
“every time you eat or drink you are either feeding disease or healing it.”
It’s no secret that diet plays a role in overall health. Eating processed foods and excess sugar can lead to obesity, mental-health disorders, heart disease, premature death, and increase cancer risk. It is clear that these foods do not fuel our bodies in a beneficial way, and when dealing with a cancer diagnosis, keeping your body as healthy as possible creates the best chance for complete healing. While many western trained medical doctors will say that diet has not been shown to impact a cancer diagnosis, changing your diet has been shown to change/influence many other diseases, like Type 2 diabetes. Diet has also been shown to play key roles in emotional health and physical health, so it would make sense that a good diet would benefit the individual experiencing a cancer diagnosis. It is a simple, and quite honestly, effective start to your healing journey. When you eat better, you feel better, which means that your body is functioning better and more equipped to handle a cancer diagnosis. Some people have healed cancer through just drinking carrot juice, going keto, or by keeping their blood glucose levels down and eating whole foods.
A PET scan is based on the fact that cancer cells metabolize quicker than normal cells, and what do they metabolize quicker? Sugar. The radioactive agent that is injected into an individual prior to the PET scan is a glucose molecule with a radioactive tracer, which is then located by the scanner. So essentially, when eating sugar, cancer cells are being fueled and are then able to grow and multiply. It would then make sense that removing sugar from the diet while experiencing a cancer diagnosis would essentially starve cancer cells and would play a role in keep them from growing and spreading around the body.
During my cancer journey, I ate more steamed vegetables, ate fruit, meat, and all of this was organic. Essentially, I ate organic whole foods that kept my glucose levels stable and low. I knew that these foods would help me to feel better and heal quicker. When I did eat something that had more sugar in it, like fruit, I made sure to pair it with a protein and fat. Proteins and fats help to stabilize and maintain blood glucose levels. However, I did not only just change my diet to heal as there were other factors at play for why my cancer came into my life. Cancer is usually a multifaceted problem, so just changing one aspect may not work to complete healing, but changing diet is a good place to begin the health journey.
